Day 28

Today I will …

Let it go

Whether you’ve hurt someone in the past, or been on the receiving end, feelings of regret, sadness, bitterness and anger can hold you back. Write a letter today of apology or forgiveness for something unresolved in your past. It’s up to you if you want to send it or not, but the act of writing out your feelings can free your mind, body and spirit.

Daily Devotional

— Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV)

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

HELPFUL TIP

Practice mindfulness. The more you focus on the present, the less your past can impact you. Being mindful means being present and reflecting on your current state of mind. When you do so, your hurts have less control over you, and you’ll find the freedom to choose how you want to respond to your life.

Franciscan Health Foundation – Doing Good in Our Communities

P E A C E Initiative Programs
The PEACE Initiative combines the strength of each of the Franciscan Foundation offices to bring together doctors, partners and community members along with 18,000 Franciscan Alliance employees to impact those in need. Through a comprehensive giving program, each and every contribution has an impact on the future of communities where our patients and associates live, work, learn and play.
Assist
those disadvantaged
Assist those disadvantaged within the healthcare system by removing barriers to quality care. Gifts to Assist support programs that help uninsured and underinsured patients with vouchers for medication, travel or clothing; provide a safety net for families when unexpected emergencies strike; care for the Sisters in our founding religious order and more.

PROGRAMS

As the world responds to COVID-19, the Franciscan Health Foundation has created the Preparedness & Response Fund to support our response to this public health crisis. Gifts to this fund will help address the urgent need for supplies and equipment in our healthcare facilities – items that will protect and care for our patients, staff and overall community. Our skilled teams have assessed and will continue to determine what is needed in this rapidly evolving situation. Your donation will have a direct impact.

Your gift to the Catherine McAuley Clinic in Hammond, Indiana gives free primary health care to uninsured patients living below the poverty line. This volunteer-based clinic continues to see growth in number of patients and level of need and is our response to God’s call to minister to the sick and neglected.

No one should have to make a choice between buying food for their table or dealing with an unexpected financial emergency. The Franciscan Health Employee Emergency Fund helps in times of unexpected need with interest-free loans. Please help support this safety net for our employees.

Gifts to the Franciscan Leadership Pilgrimage Fund provides financial aid to our Franciscan employees who would otherwise not be able to afford the pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy.

The Medical Mission Fund helps bring healing and hope to those living in remote countries, such as Haiti, Guatemala, French Guiana and Kenya. Your support makes it possible for Franciscan Health employees who would like to join a medical mission trip led by a member of the medical staff, but lack the financial resources to participate.

When someone is going through an illness, things at home can suffer because of additional expenses for medication, lodging, travel, food or clothing. Gifts to this fund provide comfort and assurance to Franciscan Health patients and their families during their most vulnerable times.

Prenatal care is very important for the health of both the expectant mother and her baby. This Northern Indiana program provides vital prenatal care and outreach to expectant mothers with limited family income. Your support gives them pregnancy education and access to public assistance programs, as well as community and hospital services.

The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration are the founding congregation of Franciscan Health. Their ethical values and Christian stewardship guide our health care ministry. Your gift to this fund supports vocations and education of the next generation of Sisters, helps care for retired Sisters and assists with other congregation needs.

Uninsured and underinsured patients often have nowhere to turn for quality healthcare. St. Clare Health Clinic in Crown Point, Indiana fills this gap with quality, affordable healthcare including preventative care, primary care, specialty referrals and health education. Your gift brings much needed healthcare services to a vulnerable population.
