Day 20 Devotional

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Verse: Psalm 147:3 (NIV)

There’s no way to get through life without hurt. You’ll feel it, time and again. Sometimes it’s a small, inconsequential hurt that’s brief and bearable. Other times it’s a pain so crushing that you feel as if a monster is sitting on top of your chest, rendering you breathless. One thing is sure—you will get to the other side of it with time.

The good news is that you never have to grapple with a broken heart on your own. Jesus provides spiritual healing in a multitude of ways. One way He does so is by sending His love via those here on Earth. People sometimes say that God works in mysterious ways, but He doesn’t seem mysterious to those who know Him. His love for us is pretty straightforward. Even if you’re in the depths of despair—a place so dark and lonely that you fear inviting anyone else in—you can open up to Christ, and He will lead you out. God’s also not afraid to take your burdens from you; in fact, He wants you to give them to Him because while you may crumble in the face of pain, God can handle anything. And if you’re too angry, frustrated or exhausted to start a conversation with God, just close your eyes and sit in His presence, resting quietly as the Holy Spirit guides your silent prayer to Heaven.
