“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
Verse: Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
Friends influence us whether we realize it or not. Some lead us to be better versions of ourselves and reach our fullest potential. Others may lead us towards gossip, habits that are not stellar or create a sphere of influence where we no longer recognize our reflection in the mirror. If you’ve ever needed to pause a relationship, you’re not alone. If you’ve had a friend redirect your path in a “what would Jesus do kind of way,” that godly counsel is a beautiful thing.
Having friends in our lives is a blessing. Some stay awhile, and others may be a part of your life for a short time. Relationships can go deep: through thick and thin, good times and bad; the person who all your best memories revolve around. God created us to be social beings. No one is an island meant to be alone. We’re made to help one another, care for each other and love deeply. Today as you reach out to people in your life that you appreciate, whether it’s been a while or they live under the same roof, ponder who to speak with. Ask God to lead you towards those that need to hear from you. You may be the voice they needed in their life at this very moment.
